During her recent appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, the Black Widow star had some kind words to say about her ex-husband, Ryan Reynolds, who she was married to for three years from 2008 to 2011.
During a recent appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, Scarlett Johansson discussed the lessons she’s learned from being married three times and even complimented her ex-husband, Ryan Reynolds. When Paltrow initially asked if Johansson had been married twice, the actress clarified that it was actually three times.
Gwyneth Paltrow made a comment about Scarlett Johansson being married to Ryan Reynolds, to which Johansson laughed and confirmed that they were briefly married when they first met during the filming of Iron Man 2. Paltrow expressed admiration for Reynolds and Johansson acknowledged that he is a good person. The conversation was light-hearted and friendly.
Johansson and the star of Deadpool got married in 2008 but divorced in 2011. Reynolds then tied the knot with Blake Lively in 2012, and together they have four children. On the other hand, the actress who played Black Widow married French journalist Romain Dauriac in 2014, but they separated in 2017. They have an eight-year-old daughter named Rose.
After getting married to Colin Jost in October 2020 and welcoming their son Cosmo in August 2021, Scarlett Johansson shared her insights on relationships during an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. When asked about what she’s learned from her previous connections, Johansson revealed that her perspective towards long-term relationships has shifted over time. She mentioned that although she knew Jost for a while, it was only through work. She also acknowledged that she wasn’t always ready for a relationship like the one she has with Jost because she hadn’t established her boundaries and didn’t know what she needed from a partner.
In an interview, Johansson expressed her admiration for her husband whom she referred to as “compassionate.” She then went on to share a realization she had about the “fundamental characteristics” she desired in a partner. According to the actress, there are certain attributes that she needed to share with a significant other. She acknowledged that being in a relationship was challenging because it required constant compromise, and there would be times when their lives diverge and converge. However, she never fully understood the importance of compassion until she met her current husband. To her, this trait is a fundamental characteristic that must be present in any relationship.
According to Johansson, it’s essential to identify the fundamental qualities one needs in a partner for a lasting relationship. She believes that this realization was a game-changer for her. Her marriage to Jost, a comedian aged 40, worked because she was finally able to understand and respect herself enough to recognize these qualities and accept them. She sees this as a valuable life lesson.
