Apple TV+ has recently acquired the rights to a new space race movie project called Project Artemis in a deal worth over $100 million. The film will be directed by Jason Bateman, known for his work in Ozark, and written by Rose Gilroy. The project boasts an impressive cast that includes Avengers co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, who will be reuniting on screen. This isn’t the first time Johansson and Evans have worked with Apple; Johansson is currently filming Bride while Evans is working on Ghosted. The two have previously starred together in Marvel movies as Black Widow and Captain America. While they had planned to collaborate on the romantic action-adventure Ghosted, scheduling conflicts led to Johansson’s departure, and she was replaced by Ana de Armas.
The upcoming film, Project Artemis, has been shrouded in secrecy but recent reports suggest that it will take place during the space race. Drawing inspiration from NASA’s Artemis project, which aims to put humans back on the moon and establish a sustainable human presence there, the movie promises to be an exciting sci-fi adventure. The name Artemis is significant, as it refers to the Greek goddess of the moon. This is a major project for Apple TV+ following their success at the 2022 Oscars. Interestingly, Scarlett Johansson will not only act in the movie but also produce it through her company, These Pictures, along with Jonathan Lia and Keena Flynn. Jason will also produce the film via Aggregate Films. No details have yet been confirmed regarding the start of filming.
